In GHOST OF A CHANCE, Linda Andrews tells a wonderful story of overcoming adversity, the values of family and a search for real love. The characters are alive, the dialogue stimulating and the fast paced plot keeps you turning the pages from the very beginning. I recommend this book as a great read and look forward to another novel by this author.

Excerpt:

Everett's tongue bristled with dry taste buds that sponged the moisture off his palate. Tiny gremlins pounded on his temples. The plink, plink, plink of their hammers shuddered down his spine. Another hangover. Weariness bubbled against his lips.

He needed to stop drinking, needed to stop believing he would awake to his former life, needed to stop trading the bitter taste of guilt and betrayal for the one of sour whiskey. His binges never changed anything. He rolled onto his side. Pain hissed between his teeth.

He had been wrong.

Last night's bender had changed something. Fire danced over the valleys and hills of his ribcage. His ears burned as shrieks and slaps pierced the silence. The stench of a dozen privies soiled his nose and coated his throat. Sinew screamed as he folded his arms around his head. The assault continued despite his feeble attempt at protection.Pillow, he needed his pillow. Thick fingers grasped at dry hay. The stiff blades pelted his cheek and arms. Where was his pillow? Where was he? The alcoholic haze evaporated, exposing islands of memories. The serpentine jaunt. Rows of dilapidated tenements. Broken risers shredding his trousers and gnawing at the flesh underneath. A street urchin with a winning smile and sweet words.

And her.

"A stunning new voice. Linda Andrews transports her readers into a history populated by ghosts, psychic underpinnings and characters so real and wonderful they haunt us long after the novel has ended. Excellent read."

Kerrie Droban, author of The Watchman's Circle

What a literary treat! From the slums of New York to the posh hotels of San Francisco, Ghost of a Chance provides a vivid tale of love and survival. Brighit and Everett's journey toward freedom and each other is well told. Granny's antics added a wonderful humorous twist on the typical interfering in-law character. I enjoyed every minute of the book and look forward to the next effort of this new author.

If I had to be haunted by a ghost, I would hope it would have the sense of humor like Gram. Loved the book and look forward to the next one.

Linda Andrews tells an enjoyable story of overcoming the odds, finding a family and true love in GHOST OF A CHANCE. GHOST OF A CHANCE takes us back to a time where poverty was abundant, social status was everything, and the West was freedom. Brighid and Everett show that even those of different social backgrounds can come together on equal ground and triumph over anything. The character of Gran provides much needed humor to the dark, depressing backdrop of America after the Civil War. Once I got through the first chapter and got the hang of Brighid's Irish brogue, I couldn't put GHOST OF A CHANCE down. Looking for a heart-warming story to read? Then give GHOST OF A CHANCE, well a chance.

A wonderfully romantic and hauntingly engaging love story, GHOST OF A CHANCE is one terrific read. Brimming with sexual tension and a plot filled with adventure, the book stands out proudly amongst its peers. Linda Andrews Tantalizes us with a tale of ghostly happenings and strongly budding desires that fans the flames of the human heart. I found the cast of characters to be strongly fleshed out and filled with wholly believable wants and needs, with plenty of action and villainous persons to contend with the pace never faltered. I recommend reading GHOST OF A CHANCE to those of you who appreciate a realistically written and well-rounded tale of paranormal romance. Published by Zumaya in 2003 the book is a specter to be reckoned with.

I thought Ghost of a Chance was an excellent book. With characters you will fall in love with and a great plot, you can't go wrong with this story. The exchanges between Brighid and her Gran are very funny and sweet. The only problem I had, if you could call it a problem, was that it ended too soon. It was all around a great read, one that I would recommend to everyone.
